My laptop isn’t just old; it’s senile. I see a netbook in my near future. Any advice on which one? I may not be able to answer you right away but will read all comments when I can.

I’ve had my Asus Eee netbook for over a year now and I love it. Also, I wrote an article on Netbooks for the July/August 2009 issue of Digital Genealogist magazine (the magazine has since stopped publication). I can send you a copy of the article if you contact me.
I went with the Asus (not Acer, Asus) for these reasons:
- the battery is 9.5 hours
- the keyboard is 93% the size of a normal laptop keyboard
- it has 3 usb ports
- I can run PowerPoint presentations for my lectures while connected to an LCD projector
- it weighs just 3 lbs
I use it when researching on the road as well. Can you tell how much I love it? Also, I purchased mine on Amazon which doesn’t charge sales tax (at least not here in Chicago where our tax is 9.75%) and includes free shipping. Their prices are competitive with Best Buy where most of my colleagues have purchased their netbooks.
